On behalf of the BioValley Life Sciences Week 2008 Steering committee, we cordially would like to invite you to attend the Biovalley Life Sciences Week 2008.
The BioValley Life Sciences Week aims to offer a platform to experts and executives of the economic region, in which strategies and innovations in the domain of Life Sciences can be discussed and debated with a wider audience. The various events during the 4 days are directed to different target markets in order to obtain a broad effect and to bring together personalities from various sectors of society.
The 7th BioValley Life Sciences Week brings together biotech and life science executives, investors, professors, entrepreneurs, - the very people who helped make the biotech industry the key sector it is today. There is a stream of exciting discoveries and development news coming from all sectors and the conference delegates are going to learn from one another and perhaps make plans for new business and research ventures.
For the first time, MipTec – The Leading European Event for Drug Discovery (www.miptec.com) – and the All-SystemsX.ch-Day 2008 (www.systemsx.ch) will take place parallel to the BioValley Life Sciences Week at the venue, which offers participants the unique opportunity to be present at 3 major events at the same time.

Tuesday, 14 October 2008: BioValley Science Day
The University of Basel holds the “From Bench to Bedside” meeting jointly with the BioValley Science Day. The day serves as an interchange between young and experienced researchers of biomedical and clinical research groups from the public (e.g. universities) and from the private industry. This year’s topic focuses on Neurosciences.
The three main themes are Sleep and Memory, Neuroinflammation and Neurodegeneration and Synapse formation and specificity. Keynote speakers are Peter Scheiffele (Biozentrum) and François Jenck (Actelion).

Wednesday, 15 October 2008: BioValley Connect Day
Businesses have the opportunity to present themselves in front of a large audience of representatives of funding and venture capital institutions and of medium and large prospective business partner firms. In turn, the medium and large life sciences firm have a chance to find prospective, innovative partners. Venture capitalists have the opportunity to survey companies seeking venture investments.
KPMG will present a roundtable discussion on "Investments from India into European Biotech and Pharma"
The BioValley Basel Award "s'goldig Läggerli" and the BioValley Life Sciences Prize will be presented.

Thursday, 16 October 2008: SystemsX.ch Day
SystemsX.ch – The Swiss Initiative in Systems Biology is a research consortium with eight universities and three research institutions. SystemsX.ch will present its eight Research, Technology and Development Projects as well as other projects in Systems Biology in the morning program. Der BioValley College Day zeigt einen Überblick der Studienmöglichkeiten und Berufsfelder im Bereich Life Sciences. Dazu werden Referate von Wissenschaftlern zum Thema „Evolution – Darwins Erben“ gehalten.
